Question 1

What is the cargo capacity of the Ford Transit Custom 330L?

Accepted Answer

The 330L variant of the 2015 Ford Transit Custom has a maximum cargo volume of approximately 6.8 cubic meters, with a payload capacity of around 1000 kg. This makes it ideal for most small to medium commercial delivery, construction, and service use cases common across the UAE. The wheelbase and body dimensions are designed to balance cargo space with maneuverability, making it easy to navigate narrow city streets and parking garages in Abu Dhabi compared to larger full-size Transit vans.

Question 2

Is this van suitable for commercial use in the UAE?

Accepted Answer

Yes, this Ford Transit Custom is perfectly suited for commercial use across the UAE. Its 2.2L turbo diesel engine is well-adapted to the region’s hot climate, and the model is a popular choice for small business owners, delivery companies, and tradespeople across all emirates. The durable construction and low running costs make it a practical, cost-effective option for daily commercial use, and Ford’s widespread service network in the UAE means easy access to maintenance and repairs whenever needed.

Question 3

What kind of maintenance does this 2015 diesel Transit need?

Accepted Answer

For this 2015 Ford Transit 2.2L diesel, routine maintenance is required every 10,000 km, including oil and filter changes, tire rotations, and brake inspections. Every 40,000 km you should replace the fuel filter and air filter, and change the transmission fluid every 80,000 km. In the UAE’s hot dusty climate, it’s also recommended to clean the air intake and cooling system annually to prevent overheating. Overall, maintenance costs are very reasonable for this vehicle.

Question 4

Can this van be converted for passenger use?

Accepted Answer

Yes, the Ford Transit Custom 330L can be converted for use as a 9-12 seat passenger van for shuttle or private use in the UAE, as long as the conversion is completed by an RTA-approved workshop to meet local regulations. The chassis is designed to support the additional weight of seating and interior modifications, and many owners in the UAE convert these vans for tourist shuttles or company transport. You will need to update the vehicle registration with the RTA after conversion to legalize the modification.

Question 5

What does FWD mean for a cargo van like this?

Accepted Answer

FWD (Front-Wheel Drive) means the engine sends power only to the front wheels of the van, rather than the rear wheels. For a mid-size cargo van like the Transit Custom, FWD offers a few key benefits: it reduces overall weight, improves fuel efficiency slightly, and creates a lower, flatter cargo floor that makes it easier to load and unload heavy items. For the mostly flat road conditions in the UAE, FWD provides more than enough traction for loaded and unloaded driving, with no major drawbacks for typical use cases.
